The Space Explorers Camp includes 8 missions, so it would cover 8 weeks. The first mission is getting ready, decorating your notebook and collecting all your supplies. The last mission is wrapping up with a travel brochure to Space project where kids showcase what they have learned.
Each mission is about 3 hours of "work". Families could break up that up over a few days or have one "Science Day" a week. It is designed to follow the inquiry learning process, so there are lots of hands-on activities to help students explore each concept. We also wanted to be sure to include effective writing activities. There are also a bunch of creative activities like holding a news conference after your rocket launch and writing a song.
Each student would need his/her own notebook. The three levels have the same core experiments. A family with the different ages could do one activity together, but then a 1st grader will answer different questions than a 5th grader. The idea would be for each family to have a set of the camp books and just get together with their friends/neighbors for the fun. It could be an option for friends/neighbors to share the Usborne Books too.
