January 2011 Try a New Year's Read-olution Make a Reading Resolution in 2011 Make Reading a part of your family's everyday life. It's beneficial for kids to see parents demonstrate a love for reading. Here are a few ideas to get you started... Decide to read a certain number of books in 2011. If you read 6 books last year, make it 9 or 10. If you didn't read any books, try for 1 or 2, and if you are an avid reader, you might want to try for an even 100! Bring a book along & get caught reading in public. When running errands, bring a book for both you and your children to read during those moments where you are waiting during the day. Commit to start reading to your kids - or to read to them more often! According to literacy organizations, less than half of young children in this country are read to regularly. Everyone loves activity books. Try reading the instructions together and create something fun.
